I am taking the bike on the Amtrak to LaCrosse this September. Then will had east on the trails through central Wisconsin then south via Horicon Marsh back to Illinois. Will be going just before the leaves change. With luck I will get decent weather. It would be great to do the trip when the leaves are changing, but the leaf peepers - bless their hearts, can pose just a bit of a challenge to the through biker.
Eric: Have you ridden any of the Root River Bike trails on the Minnesota side of LaCrosse? Depending on timing, I thought I might take an extra day and head west before going back east.
