I've been using a brush and soap for many years, i vastly prefer it. I'm bearded at the moment, but even when i'm shaving regularly a cake of Bert's Bees soap seems to last for a couple of years and so costs virtually nothing. I use standard modern cartridge razors, but recently learned that you can get extra life out of them by stropping them on a pair of jeans.
