I started shaving with a DE safety razor instead of my old Mach 3 a
couple months ago and haven't looked back.   I also started doing the
brush/cream/cup/aftershave thing too.

You should checkout the badgerandblade.com forums. There is a lot of
great shaving info there, and a really nice group of guys that are
very helpful.

I definitely sense some harmony between the Riv thing and these
simple, old school yet functionally excellent razors.

Especially the vintage 1950's gillettes. They are great.
