Never tried it, but my gut feeling is that there will be some kind of
problem using 10sp chain on a crank designed for 7sp (that said, I
have run 9sp on an old SunTour XC Pro crank with no issues). There are
now (or will be soon) many more 10sp MTB/touring triples on the
market, if you want perfect indexing. With friction, I'd be more
comfortable even with a 9sp crank, a Deore M590 for example, which is
available with silver arms and sensible gearing for a price similar to
the Sugino. These modern cranks also have the advantage of external
bearing BBs, which in my opinion are a leap forward (not that square
taper is bad, just that the new stuff has some advantages).
