I did a quick out 'n' part of the way back today, Rio Grande bike path, when riding back to my daughter's school to pick her up -- I'd driven the old van in, carrying the 1999 Joe Starck custom fixie, 75" gear -- with a NW wind, 3/4 behind more or less outbound, 3/4 headwind, more or less, inbound. The 75" gear felt very nice; at least 10 miles of the ride in the hooks for power and aerodynamics. Averaged 18 until I turned off at Mountain toward Manzano Day school and had to contend with traffic. 17.7 overall, tho' this does not count time at stops. Given that I have been averaging a mere 50 miles/week for a long time past, and that I had to contend with a gusty wind, I am pleased; tho' of course the total was only 14 miles (six this am, back from her school).
Nice, nice *nice* bike, over 10K miles despite being a fair weather bike -- the Phil bb and Tange rollerball headset and Phil dual fixed and Suntour cartridge front bearings are all as smooth as day 1. My 2003 Curt-built is almost identical tho' it is built up with Hammered Honjos, Tubus Fly, SON 20R + Edeluxe while the gofast is stripped to the point of having no fender braze ons or even a second water bottle braze on (this last I regret). -- Patrick Moore Albuquerque, NM For professional resumes, contact Patrick Moore, ACRW at resumespecialt...@gmail.com -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
