I have an early version, a green one. I find it incredibly useful for commuting. The only criticism I have is that the notion of using it as a commuting bag and then snapping it off and using it for a briefcase during the day is undermined by the fact that the zipper is not constructed so that it remains hidden by the zipper fly when you're holding the bag by its handle -- that is, the "non-lid" side of the zipper is not tacked down to the side of the bag, so the zipper pulls out (remains zipped, but becomes visible) when you carry the bag as a briefcase by its handle.
I have had NO problems with the bag unsnapping, and I find it very solid on the Platrack. It also tends to hold contents well, minimizing shifting within.
