Jim,
Well for starters the craftsmanship on the Waterford doesn't hold up
well compared to the new bike, but the Road was a production bike. The
contact points are pretty much the same so the fit feels very
familiar. Both bikes have about the same top tube length (long) but
the head and seat tube angles on the new bike are a full degree
slacker. The Road is set up with lighter wheels and tires so obviously
it feels different in that respect, but they don't feel that much
different. The things I wanted in the Road and A.H.Hilsen have been
taken care of with the new bike. I used the Road on trails too but the
limitations in tire size would beat me up after a while. It has Hilsen
clearance and comfort but handles more like a Quickbeam or the Riv
Road - with fat tires, so, more comfortable. And that's a good thing,
the Road was my favorite bike. There were times when I'd head out for
a ride on the Hilsen and after a mile I'd go back home and grab the
Road instead and then head back out. I probably won't ride the Road
much for a while but it is a great bike. And it's orange!
