Great report Anne! Congratulations on finishing!

My wife and I were out on the coast enjoying our annual New Year's Day hike,
and the winds were frighteningly stiff. I was thinking about you all out on
the roads down south of us. That had to be a very taxing second half.

It's funny how the little things trip us up on longer rides - slight
discomfort, small choices to "eat later" - and once you drop down that hole,
it's very difficult to recover. I have reached the conclusion that whenever
I have the whisp of an idea to eat or drink, I need to act on it.

But, again, great to hear things went as well as they did.

"My nighttime attitude is anyone can run you down and get away with it.
That's why I don't even own a bike light or one of those godawful reflective
suits. Because if you've put yourself in a position where someone has to
see you in order for you to be safe...you've already blown it."
