Hey - I've been thinking about doing the Chilly Hilly - but...I'm in the DC area, my daughter lives in Seattle and I visit a lot.  I don't have a bike in Seattle (yet!) but she has a 'town bike' - some low gears but definitely not in any way similar to my Bleriot (or other bikes).  Very upright position, kind of 'crank forward' design (it's a Trek Pure).

How hilly is the ride?  What kind of bikes do people generally ride for it?  I mean, I'm used to hills, just not sure if this bike is appropriate for the ride.
Thanks for any help,
Joan
PS - my daughter lives in West Seattle but won't ride on streets - at least not yet (she's only had the bike a few months).  My granddaughter just got a bike at 4, so I'm hoping we can nudge my daughter's comfort level up so she can at least do some errands in her low traffic neighborhood.

Definitely a possibility, might bring the lady along too, on our 'new
