I have a computer on my randonneuring bike, but I only use it at night to help make turns. My perception of time and distance gets pretty warped at night. I don't look at it the rest of the time because I don't reset the trip mileage. None of my other bikes have computers. In the history of cycling, computers are relatively recent. People got around okay, but maybe they were lost more often. Just enjoy the ride.

How many of y'all have computers on your bikes? The Avocet 35 on my
gofast failed after many years and I am very tempted not to replace
it. But weaning myself from the numbers is surprisingly hard,
particularly mileage numbers.
for mileage numbers I use gmap-pedometer online and just map the
route. It's close enough - though probably rounds off a bit smaller
than on the road.

What do y'all do? Do you use computers? Just a watch to time yourself?
Just ride and say the heck with it?
I don't time myself - I'm there for the ride, not the time. :)

Note: I'll still like going fast; I'm just not the rambling type. But
I can ride hard even without the computer.
then ride hard - you should know if you're riding hard by how you feel, right?
