Thanks, Bobby. I'll certainly keep the Jones bars in mind if and when I build another off roader. Am currently torn between:
Re-building my modified Redline Monocog 29er with a Surley fat fork and putting in a 559 wheel with Endomorph tire; Building up a very light ss, rigid 29er with conventional wheels; Buying a SimpleOne and Roadeo-fying the 1973 Motobecane; Buying a Roadeo. In other news: I rode the Fargo home up the hill today from Sunflower with prolly a good 30 lb of groceries, locks and bags in the back: the entire package must have pushed north of 70 lb. (it is shod with the off road wheels with 800 gram tires at 15/20 psi, 800 gram rims and 250 gram tubes). I sat for part of the way (this is a very steep, 4/10 mile hill that tests my mettle and my metal too, probably) in the 36/34, then stood for the remaining 2/10 mile. But I noticed that the Fargo, which is set up very much like the Sam Hillborne I sold last year, tracked much better as I sat and spun up the hill: far, far less front end wandering despite a lot of weight in the back. Too bad, the SH was a nice bike but I just did not care for the handling.
