Yesterday I had a mishap on my Quickbeam (involving a wicked hailstorm and the back of a parked pickup truck)causing the front fork to be displaced exactly backwards toward the frame. Fortunately, nothing else (including yours truly) seems to be damaged. It looks like the steerer tube is bent (or the fork crown - or both) but not the fork blades. It's a small, but noticiable deviation. In fact, the bike is still quite rideable, though goofy looking. I'm going to have a local builder fix the fork - that's a given. Before this happened, I'd been considering adding a porteur-style rack to the 'beam. And now that the fork is already going to need work done on it, I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to have the frame builder add a touch (maybe 10mm?) more rake to the Quickbeam's fork.
