I have that same pump on my Trek 520 and kept having trouble with it falling out when I'd bump it or try to lift the bike... I'd assumed that the curved end in the handle was intended to fit the profile of the seat tube (as you have it installed) and the little hole in the head was intended to go in the pump peg on the head tube... today I noticed that the handle also had an indentation in it, so I turned it around and put the soft rubber head against the seat tube and the handle against the pump peg and now it's rock solid... I can lift the bike under the top tube near the rear, and I can bump it quite hard and it doesn't move at all. If you're having similar problems you might want to try turning it around.
