I have the same bike, but in green.  These were made in India (everything, 
including the seat and tires). Mine was imported sometime in the 1990s; it sat 
in the box and I bought it around 2005.  These are great bikes for riding 
around town--very, very heavy, but fun to ride and they get lots of looks.
