Recently switched to 9sp 7700 Dura Ace downtube indexed shifters after a long time using Silver friction dt shifters. Maybe I'm getting lazy, but I'm pretty happy with the result particularly when off-road. The indexed shifters shift perfectly every time. It turns out that you can also use current (10 speed) Dura Ace derailleurs to index nicely on a 9 speed cassette with a 9sp shifter.
