One more data point: When the pads on my Tektro 720's wore out, I bought Kool Stop Eagle 2 pads, which are really basic threaded brake pads. I cut the ends of the pads off with a utility knife (you can cut about a 1/4 of an each off each end before you hit the piece of metal inside the pad). The shorter pads clear my forks so I can open the brake arms all the way and remove my wheels without letting the air out of the tires.
I'm curious about the shorter shoes that come with the new 720's. Does anyone know if they clear the fork arms/seat stays?
