The 200 limit doesn't mean you can only have 200 photos, it just means the 200 most recent will be visible. It's a rolling #. So no need to delete.
Also, I haven't done this but figure it would work: Start a group, make it private, and add ALL your photos to it. The new photos after 200 will displace the the old ones in your photostream, but they can still be seen in your group.
