I don't pop the fenders off and on.  I'm not that likely to fiddle with my bike, they just have become part of the bike.   I think if I took them off, I would have to spend a little time re-jiggering the stays to clear the tire.  Sometimes I have to take the front wheel off (when I take 2 bikes in my car), and then the fender gets bumped around and bent and I have to readjust the stays, which takes a couple of minutes.  But day after day, if the wheel stays on, the fender stays clear.  I also ride two different bikes regularly and the other bike doesn't have fender.

I guess I should say that if I were more mechanically competent, it probably wouldn't be much of a problem to remove and replace the fenders.  But that seems like a lot of extra work - to me!
This picture doesn't really give you an idea of the clearance, it's just the most recent close up I have.

Joan, do you ever pop out the fenders when you have a string of no-rain days and throw'em on for wet ones? Does the frame lend itself to this or is clearance tight enough that fenders stay put? I ask because I'm currently looking to buy a Bleriot and set it up as a rando all-day-er.
