For the last few weeks I've been trying out a new city/commuting tire: Rubena's V-66 Flash APS ("Anti-Puncture System"), 26 x 1.75.It is vaguely similar in look and tread pattern to the old-style Schwalbe Marathon (before they changed both their tread and their compound this last year). It also costs about half of what the Marathon retails for. Having ridden the 1.75 for awhile now I may be inclined to go down to the narrower 1.5 just to see if there's a noticable difference in ride feel. It certainly doesn't feel as sluggish as the newer version of the standard Marathon and so far I haven't had any flats. Given the choice in terms of ride quality and wear, the Rubena seems to be a decent tire for the money and I think I'd opt for it over the Marathon. http://www.rubenatires.com/v66-flash/ I haven't talked with anyone who's running these in 700c yet but if anyone is and wants to chime in, feel free.
