Michael, You don't mention how well-equipped with tools you may be. Bicycle assembly is not "difficult", and modern parts go together surprisingly easily, but there still are a few tricks, and a few opportunities for knowlege and discipline and care. Can you find someone locally who is truly knowledgeable, who might build/help build the bike for you, pointing out the moments when experience is leading him or her to do things in a certain, methodical way? If a few grains of experience and wisdom are passed on, you will remember and enjoy them each time you go through the process in the future. If you need to pay for such help, perhaps keep in mind that it's easy to cut the cables too short, or to screw up the chain, and the cost of replacing those two items would go a long way toward covering the expense of the teacher. Or not. :-) Peter (grateful he was taught by good mechanics)
