In the 1980's, I was living at Fillmore and Sacramento in San Francisco. One evening, after waiting for the light to change, I headed into the crosswalk toward my apartment.
Ripping around the corner and coming to an abrupt halt a few inches from my kneecaps was a gold Porche 911. I made immediate and panicked eye contact with the driver, who looked more than a little surprised himself. It was Paul Kantner.
