Had the chance to ride a bit with Tom Ritchey yesterday (he was in town for his induction into the US Bicycling Hall of Fame). I was riding on my green Quickbeam, which prompted Tom to recall the first frame he ever built for Grant (he made a few in the early days). That frame, he recalled, was made before he had acquired equipment to *spray* paint on frames, so it was painted with a *brush*. He used a marine enamel, and as he recalled it turned out just fine.
