Had the chance to ride a bit with Tom Ritchey yesterday (he was in town for his 
induction into the US Bicycling Hall of Fame). I was riding on my green 
Quickbeam, which prompted Tom to recall the first frame he ever built for Grant 
(he made a few in the early days). That frame, he recalled, was made before he 
had acquired equipment to *spray* paint on frames, so it was painted with a 
*brush*. He used a marine enamel, and as he recalled it turned out just fine.
