I have a fleece neck gaiter from lands end (one of those things you buy to get over the free shipping threshold) that is great below 32 deg, but too warm above that.
How about a section of the thigh cut from otherwise worn out wool leggings, or, for that matter, a neck salvaged from a otherwise unusable turtleneck? -Pete in CT (where it was neck gaiter weather this morning!)
