Constant use, and/or wax. Al goes from polish to oxide finish (that chalky
grey) over a long time. Not beeswax, but car wax, carnauba wax, even
"Pledge" spray wax. "Barn Find" bikes have a universal grey frosty finish
on the aluminium bits
