I was at Rivendell a few days ago, and the general feeling there seemed to be that the raffle stirred up a nice amount of business. Of course, that was just an impression I got from talking to the people there, not hard data. I sincerely hope the raffle had the desired effect for Riv.
In any case, often when businesses do a promotion, like a raffle, sale, coupons, etc, the sales generated by the promotion can sometimes negatively affect sales in the near-future. Since this is a slow time of year for most bike-related businesses, and lots of big bills come due at the end/beginning of the year, I'd urge you all to buy something from Riv or your LBS or other small businesses that you like.
