Grant, thanks for the advice about CalTrain. Technically, you're not allowed to take loaded touring bikes on CalTrain. That wouldn't necessarily be a problem, but you're not allowed to take loaded touring bikes on CalTrain because you'd have to carry them up and down a steep narrow staircase, which I am not strong enough to do. I have trouble carrying an empty bike down the Caltrain steps.
But I'll be there. I'll just ride over the bridge to Fremont. It's 30 miles, but it's 30 flat miles and half of it is along the creek and through the Baylands, a ride I always enjoy.
