I rode over to Union City (30 miles, mostly along creeks and the bay on paths separated from cars, which is really cool in the middle of such a big urban area), hopped on BART, and as I was chatting with another cyclist (bike tourist, steel bike, nice guy) who should come up behind me but Manny.
We arrived at RWHQ to be greeted by Liesl, the Riv Chica Warrior herself. As we were waiting for the rest of the crowd to assemble, it began to get cool, and somehow one of those wonderful possum wool caps with the brim made its way from the shelf to my head by way of the cash register. It's never safe to walk into RWHQ. Eventually we all rode off, on a pretty mellow ride to, um, somewhere, with trails. Chickens like me walked some of it (hey, it was bumpy and downhill and by that time dark). And then we pushed our bikes to the flat spot on top of the hill, where we could look out all around and see the lights of the metropolis. Several Trangias emerged. Bacon-wrapped sausages appeared. There was chocolate. It was cold. The next morning, the sun was shining, and we could see the bay and everything, and Liesl gave us each a tiny trade bead. I'm going to sew mine onto the zipper pull of my tool bag. And then we went back to RWHQ and had coffee with real whipped cream, which is awesome. Also Cowgirl Creamery cheese which is also awesome. Thanks everyone for a good time. --Anne -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
