I have the Velo Orange 50.4 crank (first gen) on a Rawland rSogn. I've got 15,000km on it and the non-anodized aluminum arms look nasty from my neglect. Functionally it's a great and low-cost way to try the wide-range gearing (cheaper than Sugino OXs). You could probably use the 118 BB on your RB-1 with no issues; my mtbish frame required a 122.5 spindle.
