I didn't want to hijack Jim's thread looking for one, but at the risk of
committing heresy I've got a beef with the Large Saddlesack. Don't get me
wrong, I think it's a thing of beauty, unequaled in craftsmanship and
utility. The Large Saddlesack ideal, I'm totally on board with. In
practice, not so much. I picked one up in November and spent the winter
trying to get it to play nice with my bike, a 54cm Hunqapillar. The
write-up on the website made it clear that I'd need a rack. No problem, I
have a Nitto Big Rear Rack. Ah, but it doesn't really work with that; the
tombstone interferes. I tried to resolve that by buying a Nitto Saddlebag
Grip from another list member, but it didn't make enough of a difference. I
spent an afternoon at the hardware store designing a 4" offset, but it was
too flexy. Finally, I bit the bullet and got a Nitto r14 rear rack and
it's... just okay. The springs on my B67 interferes with the bag so that
the bottom half sticks under the springs, and it droops off the back of the
rack just enough to obscure my dyno taillight. For whatever reason, I'm not
yet willing to give up on the bag though I was sorely tempted by Jim's
post. Has anyone with a non-gigantic frame had success mounting a Large
Saddlesack without compromising it's aesthetics and/or it's utility?
