It's that bit on the top of some (most?) racks that sticks up to keep your stuff from sliding forward. I don't know if it's an accurate technical term, but I heard it used and it made sense to me so I use it, too. On the Nitto R14 it actually has a tombstone shape; on the Big Rear Rack, it's just in the way. Well, in MY way, anyway....
