> It's baffling to me why everyone these days seems to think you need one. I imagine many like me have a smart phone through their employer. I live in the Chicago area as well and the few times I've wanted find my work issued smart phone will tell me where I am and adequately assist with determining how long it will take me to get to where I am going. Slight segue, but I wonder how the shift from PCs to tablets will impact gadgets such as the Garmins that need a PC to download maps, etc. Since work gave me a tablet I do not use my home computer for anything save operating my home hi fi. I've been thinking if I ported my cell number to a mini tablet I could get by with only one device even with the current state of technology. Tablets are rapidly increasing power with each generation. Not hard to imagine a GPS equipped mini-tablet providing mapping, route recording, telephone and any other portable computing functions all in one.
