In my case a 35-36mm tire is about all my Hillborne will take with fenders and for me I have to inflate those to around 75-80 psi in the back so a 700x40 (37-38mm) just has a little more volume and I can get away with 65-70 psi....plus the Supreme is a light and speedy tire. I'm running Creme Delta Cruisers on my Hillborne presently so they are a bit heavier and lower volume. At my weight, I really should be riding a tire hovering in the 38mm width or wider so for me, I notice if difference in comfort. In this process the bike that had my Supremes on it originally were replaced with regular Marathon 700x47's (41mm actual) and while noticeably slower, I could really tell the difference in shock absorption over rough surfaces. It was a tire swap across the board and something I should have done sooner.
