Historically, we've generally linked to the posted photos. Over the past year or so, there has been a steadily increasing number of people posting directly to the list. I'm probably in favor on either direct links to the images, which let people click through if they have the time or propensity.
The link you posted either split oddly or just doesn't work for me, and it didn't place any images in the post. I didn't think there was an issue with rescaling - photos sent as attachments should post just fine, as they have been doing. They appear as thumbnails for me (OSX and Firefox), and easily expand if I want to view them online. Directly posting more than 4 or 5 images to the list might start to bump up against email constraints for some members, so maybe "more than three" is a good place to just link to the set or album online. With Flickr bumping up the no charge membership limits, and enough free-ish hosting sites around, there are a good number of resources for storing images online. - Jim / kinda wearing the list admin hat on a warm, warm afternoon....
