The Ride was great. We didn't go all the way to Valentine but had a great time none the less. Our first day was facing 35 mph winds and goatheads. There were 6 flats on the first day. Five of those to one person. Eventually she would have 9 flats over the trip. She was riding old JB's that I had thrown on the Holdsworth to loan her for the trip unaware and thoughtless to thorns. The only two bikes that didn't have flats were of course the Marathon Plus Supremes. I had two flats and Dawn 1 flat running Marathon Supremes. Others had a flat each running a wide spectrum of tires. All accept the JB's had some level of puncture protection.
After two days out we stopped to take a detour to the Digs about 28 miles outside of Atkinson. Then a rider got sick and with another big day of winds nobody did anything accept party and go to the carnival. The next day we went on to Stewart and turned around as big storms were due for the weekend. We split the group with half going on to the digs and the rest of us doing the direct route back to Neligh. Talk about sweet... imagine averaging 20+ mph on a fully loaded tour bike without working up a sweat for the 40 mile day. We were on the road/hwy shoulder not the trail for this hammer fest since there was a washed out bridge and the trial was about 20 yards to the side of the road. We had a great selection of bikes as well. 2 Hilbornes, 1 Atlantis (Dawn my Wife) 1 Bombadil (me), 1 Bruce Gordon, 1 Long Haul Trucker, 1 Kona, 1 Giant OCR (my old tour bike that was sold) and 1 Holdsworth (a loaner from me that hasn't sold yet) All the bikes did great and a good time had by all. I've added more pictures to the album the link is the same. http://www.flickr.com/photos/tksleeper/sets/72157633975989097/ have a great day Kelly On Thursday, June 6, 2013 7:34:28 PM UTC-5, Kelly wrote: > > Well we are one day from getting back to he car.
