The worst rides have indelible lessons. They hold vivid details and lessons 
to recall, some because of injury, others for the trials they presented 
which were overcome. 

The good news is that no one was hurt (done that: still crisp 12 years 
later) and you got home, kit intact, to tell of it. Stupid and miserable 
can be tolerated, even if in retrospect only. Intent is delicate, plans and 
intentions begin their evolutions as soon as the cue sheet is in the 
printer tray. Bicycling is its own graduate education in that for those who 
persevere.
