When I heard of Seth's tragic passing it effected me deeply as I am aware how inherently dangerous it is sharing the road with automobiles and folks who are as Michael said are anxious. Everytime I ride these days I know how quickly it can all happen and the cyclist will always be the loser, I ride these days with a rearview mirror as I feel that's where a lot of danger resides and I try to find routes with less traffic; hard to do in SoCal. I have been riding at night as the day time heat has risen as I'm sure Seth was probably doing I feel as though he's my guardian while riding as he is for all of us Though it can be dangerous I will continental as you said to pedal with joy.
