Man, that's a bummer
 
I hope you get it back, or your insurance helps you get a new one.
 
For what it's worth, I keep my commuters in the garage , locked up, in 
addition to locking the garage.
 
My Rivs I keep in the house (I rent the top part of the duplex). It's a 
pretty good neighbourhood, but there are people trolling up and down back 
lanes looking for easy prey (and garage fires are , regrettably, not 
uncommon as well). 
 
That being said, it's a total  bummer that you lost your bike. I would like 
to think that some Chica Warrior will rescue it.
