I have been getting some weird, annoying and persistent pains lately. Nothing debilitating but enough to make me uncomfortable. I plan to play with my fit geometry over the next few weeks and wanted to seek out the knowledge and experience of the group. I realize that Fit is perhaps one of the most difficult and subjective of all the velo arts but I welcome any feedback my fellow listers wish to provide.
Known facts: My mileage (about 75/wk) hasn't really gone up but the fall weather windows may be pushing the ride dates closer together. My bars are about 1" higher than the saddle. I am old enough to have watched Nixon's resignation on the evening news. The only fit change I made recently was to bring the saddle about 1" closer to the bars. My first thoughts are to 1) move the saddle back, 2) drop the bars to saddle height as I have heard others do (even though I expect the additional weight will exacerbate the elbow). Elbow: essentially the tendon and related muscle/connective tissue over the top of the joint (from the hollow to the bone at the top of the whole assembly) as you would sit in an armchair. The joint also hurts when first moved after being stationary for more than a few minutes and again as it reaches full extension. Back: mild sciatica-type symptoms starting at the lower back near the top of the pelvis. I am developing largish "knots" in my lower back down to the top of my hips. Knee: irritation to the pencil lead sized tendon which runs vertically down the leg between the kneecap and the Medialis (potato) muscle. This is located near the part of the knee you could flex to touch the downtube while riding. Any thoughts or feedback are welcome. Thanks all.
