Hi Michael, I can't tell you all the answers, but perhaps my experience will help.
I just got my a new dyno lighting system last week: Shimano DH-3D72 Dynamo hub and B and M Lumotec IQ Cy N plus headlight and Seculite Plus taillight. So far I really like the system. I don't have any objective way to comment on drag or not caused by the hub as I don't use a cycling computer. But subjectively speaking, the first few rides I felt like maybe there was a little bit of drag (maybe equivalent to 5 psi less air in my tires), but by the 3rd or 4th ride it feel like maybe there is even less than before the change (impossible I know). So I would have to say that any increased drag is long forgotten unless you are super serious about speed. Some people have commented that some dyno hubs have a hum or even a shimmy at certain speeds. I haven't noticed any of that. The lights are great so far. I haven't ridden in really dark places so they have actually more for visibility to others for now. I don't leave them on all the time, but I suppose there is no reason not to do so. Feel free to ask any specific questions. Chris On Saturday, October 12, 2013 9:56:00 AM UTC-7, Michael wrote: > > What types are there? > Do they cause drag?
