David- I saw your bike on iBOB; very nice job. My gf's father's is the same model and color, but a standard tube (non-mixte). He and his wife bought them as a set that included the mixte, but it was wrecked a couple years ago when my gf was run into by a car in Chicago. She healed up fine, but the mixte was toast.
We're going to stick with 700C for the Raleigh, and keep the drop bars but use bar-end shifters. Did you repack the BB? What taper is the crank? I think I bought the same cheapo 650B ZAC19 wheels for my Rivendell conversion. No problems yet, but I'm on the lookout for a better set of 650B wheels for that bike.
