There's not nearly enough Right Coast content here, so I wanted to chime in
with the story this trip on my Sam up and down the Delaware (River) Water Gap
between upper NJ & PA. (The river forms the state boundary.)

Early this past spring, Joan Oppel posted pics of her trip in the Water Gap
with a group of eastern Riv owners that included Steve Palincsar, Tom Robinson
and others at the annual Cirque du Cylisme in Leesburg, VA. Though I'm 7 hours
away from upper PA, down in balmy Richmond, VA, I could not erase the thought
of getting to experience that area for myself. Life (and a number of other
rides) got in the way and I found 2013 waning, so decided to go for it, driving
up on a Tues. so I could ride the trip Wed. & Thurs.

Temps were in the mid-30's to mid-40's with a reading of 15 degrees on my bike
computer on day two when I crawled out of the tent. As ya'll say, pictures
prove it happened - text describing the trip is on the Flickr set:

I can recommend this area for a near car-free trip. This PDF map of the Water
Gap takes a few seconds to load, but gives an excellent idea of the area:
