With doubles like yours, I've found that raising the FD a cm or more away from
the large chainring works well. I have the same White Industries crank set up
on a Hilsen, and after much trial and error, this worked. It gives greater
clearance away from the chain stay. Also, I've found that perfect parallel
alignment of the FD cage with the chainring isn't the rule. Tweaking it a
degree or so can make a big difference. I've done these tweaks on Campy,
Ultegra, and older Shimano FD with success on a double, as well as a double
with the chain guard. Basically, observe the FD action when on the stand and
adjust where it makes sense. The standard directions or guidelines on FD
alignment don't always apply.
