Fishing Christmas Day.
I get my daughter for a week beginning Saturday at noon, and we will head
straight to my folks house for Christmas and Christmas dinner.
It's become a tradition for me to fish either Christmas Day or New Years
Day alternating years.

I got out at the river early, and pods of rainbows were dashing around
redds in skinny water, males sparring over the right to spawn.
Sight fishing on the swing with a soft hackle attractor and swimming BWO
dropper, I managed to entice a couple.

fishing my postwar Heddon 1-3/4f Black Beauty and early 30s Heddon Little
Rivers reel

as the morning progressed they settled into the slots and I added a strike
indicator and added a few fish on dead drifts

When I took my lunch (dried sausage) and cigar far upriver, there was a
great caddis hatch, but I couldn't turn a strike.
That's OK - great day.
I'll be fishing with my daughter some next week. And bicycling, too.
Happy New Year to all.
