I think Grant was referring to the fact that most modern bikes'
headsets have "disappeared" (been moved to inside the headtube)
because of the largeness of current frame "tubes". If it were even
possible to put a headtube for a 1" or 9/8" external headset on a bike
with enormous tubes, it would look completely absurd.
