Sometimes there are DLL permission problems associated with updating Rcpp (or any package with shared libraries). In the most recent versions of RStudio v0.97 we do a lot to prevent these problems -- if you aren't running the very latest RStudio maybe update an try re-installing Rcpp again? J.J.
