That HALO image of the laser weapon reminds me of back when I was a young dude in the 80’s when I experimented with an old AN/PVS-3, a Vietnam vintage night vision scope, combined with a cheap He-Ne laser, about 5 milliwatts. Through the NVS, the laser beam lit up the hillside down the river about a mile away. It looked like shining a flashlight on something 20 feet away. That thing was incredibly bright. As I recall the beam itself was also somewhat visible. I can imagine what one of the currently available 100mW laser pointers would look like. I’m pretty sure the beam would be visible. At night you would also have some pretty extreme effective range for rc tank battles.
