Good lord, I wish that was my personal workshop at the beginning! It is the
only Air Force Wood Crafts shop in Korea. Pretty typical for most Air Force
wood shops. Lots of room to work with the basic heavy wood machines. This
particular shop just got a brand new tabletop router...a monster of a router
that will probably take your hand off if you are not careful! They also picked
up a brand new planer...it's in the background in some of the pictures. They
also have a very nice framing cutoff saw that makes 45 degree angled cuts easy
and fast.
What they didn't have was working routers. I had to buy my own because
someone screwed up the two routers the wood shop had.
My personal workshop is the tiny messy room with the messy table and
helicopters & planes in the background. Heh. Barely enough room to move
around the Merkava.

I went with 36 volt motors not for the added power (they are still only 1000
watts), but to reduce the amp draw. Given that Watts = Volts * Amps, if the
load stays the same (1000watts), you can raise the voltage to lower the amp
draw (Volts / Watts = Amps). If I could have found a nice motor controller
that handled 48 volts, I would have went with the 1000w/48v motors to reduce
amp draw even further. RC airplane and helicopter guys discovered the
advantages to high voltage systems years ago to combat the high amp draws that
killed fragile LiPoly battery packs. It also boosted flight times and power
system effciency.
We'll see how it works out and if I'll be able to find batteries to power the
tank.

Mike, fantastic work there. Looks like it's coming together really
well. 36V motors!? That's is going to be one heck of a tank!

I hope that isn't your personal workshop at the start, otherwise I'm
slightly worried!
