Michael, If it is the same product I am thinking of as a different brand, it is completely transparent, and it is also used to create water in ponds or pools in dioramas. You simply paint the bottom of the pond blueish or just coat it with putty for wood to replicate mud and fill it with this stuff. And yes, it is very hard when it cojagulates . From the price it seems like it is teh same product.
