I was recently contacted by a producer at the Canadian Discovery Channel
who would like to do a "short doc" on R/C tank combat sometime in the
next 6 months. Naturally, as a Canadian crew they are interested in
filming some of their countrymen in the hobby. So, if you're Canadian
and would like to participate, please send me your contact information
privately (email address, telephone number and address) and I'll forward
the list to them.
We have also made tentative plans for them to come to Maryland in the
spring to film one of our battles and to get some "color" interviews
with some of our more notable members. The producer's great uncle
destroyed a T-34 with a magnetic mine in 1944, so he is especially
interested in seeing the Tiger vs. the T-34 on the battlefield. He was
disheartened to hear that Mr. Tyng no longer owns the T-34, but I told
him we might be able to dig it out of mothballs for the filming.
He is also very interested in mounting a variety of cameras to the tanks
(turret mounted, rear mounted, side mounted, etc) to get plenty of live
action shots to go with the hand-held and tri-pod shots. I told him
that we'd mount whatever brackets he needs for the larger cameras
directly to the tank hull ... after explaining just how big these things
really are.
More news as the discussions progress.
