Thanks for the positive comments. I work in a small machineshop in the aerospace industry so i have access to all machines, both manual and cnc that a machinist can dream of, and cad/cam programming. i also have my own well equipped machine and weldshop ( no cnc yet ).
The tracks is made of 68 links each. first i cut squares from 10mm alu. plate, them milled to outer dimensions, then drilled holes for the drive wheel. then i made a fixture so i could machine 16 links at a time in the Haas vmc3 tool center. the peg that goes between the wheels ( what is it called in english ) sits in a hole and is welded in place 4mm brass bar hold the links together. and rubber pads glued in place. the real tracks have some kind of greenish chromate surface treatment, but mine will be paited green. This week i completed tension wheels and torsion arms for the road wheels.( pictures will come) Regards Leif ----- Original Message ----- From: "SteveH" <[email protected]> To: "R/C Tank Combat" <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, January 22, 2010 3:40 PM Subject: [TANKS] Re: another newbie > Let me add my voice to the chorus of praise for your craftsmanship. > Wow!
